Awful Eye
is best hunted in Lufaise Meadows.
This spell can be soloed starting around level 37. No party is needed for the Lufaise Meadows camp. You must be on CoP mission 2-1 or higher for access to the best camp. Bring a way to warp home to save a walk.
Zone into Lufaise Meadows by using the Valkrum Dunes Swirling Vortex, and you will be at your camp. There are several Bugards close by in the K-9 area that you can pull back to your safe camp to fight. The area is circled in red above. There are also sight aggro Giants in the area, so take care. Having a ranged weapon to pull with can help a great deal. The fights are pretty simple. Buff up, pull, enfeeble the Bugard with Wild Oats, Sandspin, and Sprout Smack, and then feed it TP with your sword. Watch your health as some of the damage moves can hurt. If you get into trouble sleep your foe, and zone back to the dunes. Awful Eye can reduce your Strength by a massive amount, but it's a Gaze Attack, so you can fight with your back to the Bugards if you wish to avoid it. You should have no problems safely learning here once the Bugards are DC or less. Even though the Bugards in Misareaux Coast are the same level, Camp #1 is better then the ones you can find in the Coast, thanks to the ease of reaching targets, the nice number of Bugards to pull from, and the easy zoneline back through the vortex.
There are other Bugards you can fight. The lower ones in the Coast are not as good a choice as the ones in Camp #1 thanks to aggro issues to get to camp if you are hunting in your 30's, and no easy zones if there is trouble. The Gigantobugards can be fought safely solo in your low 40's. So you can learn from these at the point you can use the spell. But with the lower ones about why trouble yourself?
If you do not have CoP access for Lufaise Meadows, you can hunt the spell in Mamook. You can find the Battle Bugards here in the lower parts of the open areas in the zone. They are level 78-79 here, so you will need a solid limit point style party to be able to beat them. There is also a lot of aggro to deal with to get to them, and around them. A very difficult camp. Finish your Promies and hunt in the Meadows!
Awful Eye can be learned in a Mamool Ja Besieged. You, a party, or alliance member must get the killing blow on the Brontobugard for a chance to learn the spell. You do not need to have had engaged the monster yourself to learn the spell.
Awful Eye can be learned in Salvage. You need the 1500 Assault points to enter, and to be in the right section. Your party should be able to handle them.
Awful Eye can be learned on the proper Limbus run. You must be on or past CoP 8-2 to enter Limbus, and have gotten the proper Limbus key items for entry to this area. Your Limbus party should be more then able to deal with the Apollyon Scavengers.
