Ice Break
is best hunted in Beaucedine Glacier.
This spell can be safely soloed around level 45. If you wish the spell when you can learn it at 40, you will need at least one High level Helper. You will need a way to sneak and invisible to camp.
The Best place to hunt Golems mobs is in Beaucedine Glacier. There are five spawns in the zone, all are noted on the map above. Two of the spawn points are close at I-9/J-9 on a small plateau. This makes a good camp, as only one Ahirman and one Tiger are near. The other three spawns have a bit more aggro near them. Respawn on these Golems is not too bad. So waiting for more is not a big issue. Sneak yourself to camp, and pull a golem to it. If you are going solo, you'll need to go heavy with your attacks to wear the Golem's HP down quickly to at least half, before switching over to a low damage weapon, and holding on with cures as long as you can while you wait for the move. These monsters do hit hard and you want to be able to finish them fast if you need to. Always be on the watch for aggro. Having a Higher level Tank to hold the Golems hate will make learning the spell a lot simpler. You will be able to see many more TP moves per mob this way. Simply keep your Tank healed with the Occasional Wild Carrot, and feed the Golem TP with your low damage weapon (A great time to skill up club!) while you wait to see your spell.
In Fei'Yin there are Nine Ore Golem spawns on the first floor. You will need to be in your upper 40's to solo these safely, and there is significant aggro issues of all types around the spawns. Soloing here is difficult. So if you choose to hunt here, you will need a high level helper. Let your helper clear aggro, and take the golems hate, then do your part by keeping the cures flowing, and feeding TP to the Golem with your low damage weapon. Hopefully you will learn the spell.
The Rock Golem in Zi'Tah are not bad to learn from once you are in your 50's, but they are very few and scattered widly about the zone. The Higher Golems will take a party to kill, and with the other good low level camps, none of these are recommended.

Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? Yes, you can by your mid 40's, but having a High level helper is better for this one.
Do I need any special items? Just a way to sneak and invisible yourself to camp. A low damage weapon to feed the monster TP is useful.
Do Golem like to use the move? They like the Crystal Weapon moves a lot more due to there being four types of them, so it can take a long time to see Ice Break.
The damage from the spell is very nice when burst.
Ice Break can be paired with Magnetite Cloud to create the Magic Defense Bonus Trait. |
