Obtaining the Spell | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Minimum Blue Mage Level Needed To Acquire Spell: Level 34
Mandibular Bite is best
hunted in Attohwa Chasm.
This spell can be soloed starting in the lower 40's. No party is needed for the Attohwa Chasm camp at that level. If you choose to get the spell at a lower level a single high level helper is enough to do the job. There is aggro on the way to, and near, camp. Sneak and Invisibility should be at hand. Eye Drops to deal with blindness and Antidotes for the nasty poison from Venom Spray.
Proceed to Attohwa Chasm and move to camp in the I-9 area. Note that there are sound aggro Hecteyes in the tunnels, and sound aggro Scorpions and sight aggro Goblins in the camp area. Take proper precautions. Once in camp, there are several Tracer Antlions in the area. Pull them to a safe location and work to get your spell. They can hit hard but have weak defense so they are not too hard to take down.
There are stronger Antlions On the left side of the chasm. As the Camp #1 targets are far simpler, these are not recommended.

Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? Yes. Once you reach your lower 40's you can in camp #1. Before then a Duo with a high level helper will work.
Do I need any special items? Yes, a way to sneak and invisible yourself is needed to get to camp. Antidotes and Eye Drops for status effects. A warp item to save a long walk home is nice also.
Do Antlions like to use the move? Yes. They seem to use it often.
The Spell deals slashing damage. For it's low set point cost, and good damage, it's a great spell.
Mandibular Bite can be used to create the Plantoid Killer Trait when paired with Power Attack or Spiral Spin. |
