When you hurt a Uragnite's HP it retreats into its shell. While in its shell it is resistant to both physical (-75%) and magical damage, and gains a powerful Regen effect that cannot be dispelled. When in it's Shell the Uragnite will only use the Venom Shell TP move. The poison is quite nasty, eating 12hp per tick. |

| Venom Shell
is best hunted in Bibiki Bay on Purgonorgo Isle.
This spell can be soloed starting around level 40, with success on a regular basis at 42. No party is needed for the Purgonorgo Isle camp. Bringing a High level helper can simplify things quite a bit. Bring a lot of Antidotes, at least two stacks, or have a White Mage sub for Poisona. Juices or Ethers for MP recovery are very useful. Gil to buy a ticket for the Manacliper, and a Warp item to get home.
Take the Mannaclipper to Purgonorgo Isle. If you are lucky, a Uragnite may pop on the deck as you ride out. A Clot that can aggro, can also spawn, so take care. Once you arrive, the beach that the dock leads to, has no shortage of Coralline Uragnite to fight. They don't aggro or link so feel free to attack them anyplace. In case you forgot Antidotes, the shop right there sells them. Your fights can be dangerous if you are hunting at level 40, things will get safer as you move to level 42. Open your fight by hitting the Uragnite with a spell that has some Damage over Time effect. Poison Breath and Queasyshroom are both good choices, this will help counteract the Regen the Uragnite gets when it hides in it's shell. As long as the Uragnite has it's head outside it's shell, feel free to cast heavy damage spells. You need to max your damage when you have these chances, because once the Uragnite hides in it's shell, your damage will be reduced by 75%. Use these times to feed it TP with your sword, and low MP cost spells like Power Attack and Foot Kick. While in the shell, the Uragnite will only use the Venon Shell TP move. They will use it a lot, so be ready to drink an Antidote as soon as you can to remove the poison. The 12hp per tick damage can add up very fast. Eventually the Uragnite will pop it's head back out again, and you can once again hit it for full damage. Go for the Kill. Watch your MP and drink a Juice or use an Ether if you need. The fights can go long, and you need to conserve your MP, as running out will mean death. If you bring a single High Level Helper these fights are a snap.
